Who is CIL Opportunities?

CIL Opportunities independent living Founded in 1992, The Center for Independent Living (CIL Opportunities) is a private, non-profit, non- residential organization serving people with all types of disabilities in Adams, Franklin, and York counties of Pennsylvania.

The Center for Independent Living (CIL Opportunities) provides free and confidential services to consumers without regard to age, race, ethnicity, gender, socio- economic status, sexual orientation/identity, religious background, or severity of disability. All services and special projects prioritize self-determination by people with disabilities and empowers them to make their own choices and decisions.

CIL Opportunities is part of PA’s statewide network of consumer-controlled centers for independent living and is a member of the Pennsylvania Council on Independent Living and the National Council on Independent Living.

Hillary Hasson

Hillary Hasson

Executive Director

Hillary graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Letters, Arts, & Science in 2009. Hillary has advocated on behalf of persons with disabilities since 2000. She was hired in 2000 to work with established programs and core services at the Center for Independent Living Opportunities (then called Citizens for Independence & Access (CIL Opportunities). In 2005 she was promoted to Executive Director and since then has created an independent living center that has become a strong and growing voice for persons with disabilities. She serves on a number of boards and committees. Hillary works diligently towards ensuring that the Americans with Disabilities Act is fully implemented to allow for full participation of all citizens with disabilities. In addition to her continued commitment and service as Executive Director of CIL Opportunities, she also performs consulting work that includes coordinating Conference/Training Planning & Coordination (meeting or exceeding ADA Accessibility Guidelines) and performs ADA and UCC accessibility assessments.

CIL Programs Coordinator

Jessica graduated from Penn State University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Jessica completed her internship at the center in the fall of 2007. Jessica has been a committed staff member since January 2010 and has worked as a Peer Mentor and on projects like Ticket to Work. She is currently as a Service Coordinator under the HCBS Waivers.

Eric Orr

Eric Orr

I&R and Advocacy Coordinator

Eric received a certificate of completion from Bradley Academy, for Multimedia Design and a diploma for Networking from York Technical Institute. Eric worked as an Assistant Program Manager at Images which is a program that promotes health and fitness for people with mental and physical disabilities. Eric has worked with various community organizations as an advocate on behalf of persons with disabilities and intends to increase those efforts in the future. Eric joined the CIL Team in January of 2008 as Office Coordinator and is currently working as the I&R and Advocacy Coordinator where he is committed to assisting consumers achieve their Independent Living goals as well as advancing the CILs mission out in our communities.

Jaritza Nguyen

Public Information Coordinator

Jaritza graduated from York Technical Institute in 2012 with an Associate’s Degree in Business Management. Jaritza came to the center as an extern during her schooling. After completing her externship, Jaritza stayed with center as a volunteer before joining the center the summer of 2013 as a Program Assistant. Currently, she is working as an I&R Assistant and is one of the CIL Team’s bi-lingual advocates. She is a committed team member dedicated to our consumers and the mission of the organization.
